The Trump Trap
Looking Like Venus
We all know what the Venus Flytrap looks like. It's beautiful, the colors are amazing, and it emits an intoxicating scent. In the grand scheme of things, the trap is only good for four or five kills before that section of the plant dies, but the plant itself can live up to 20 years.
Like the Venus trap, people can play these games of presenting a lie like a truth, and they can go on doing this for many years. The games that politicians play are also deadly, and those games can go on for as long as the environment lets them thrive.
Venus flytrap is a perennial plant that blooms year after year in May and June. Their flowers are on stalks 8 to 12 inches tall and well above the trap shaped leaves so they don't catch the same species of insects that come to pollinate their flowers.
The meeting between House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Jared Kushner came about because Kushner asked for it Right there is an imbalance of power, and Jeffries should not have taken it. It was a trap designed to split the Democratic party into two factions.
Ostensibly, according to Jeffries, it was to talk about the unaffordability of our current problems, like housing, groceries, and health care Jeffries talked about this for too long, and it sounded like a smoke screen for something transactional . With their history of lies and the destruction of truth, why would we believe anything Kushner might have said and that Jeffries then relayed to the American people?
Jeffries' speech claimed we should be open to talking about unaffordability and seeking solutions together. That was the essence of his message. But the longer Jeffries talked, the more he seemed too smiley and too condescending to the audience.
The result of this meeting is that the tactic of divide and conquer has now been achieved. With the horrible rant of James Carville and his attack against Jeffries, we now have a war within the Democratic Party. We should not kid ourselves. The people sacrificed to this administration have been justified by lies, and accountability is nowhere to be seen.
We live within the Garden of Trumpism, and there is no weedkiller that will kill this garden of lies. Why would Kushner be sympathetic to the affordability of people's lives when everything they have done for the past years has only made our lives more expensive?
If the midterms do not achieve a new Congress that is for the American people and adheres to the laws of our Constitution, the Republicans will retain their hold over truth and continue to lie. Their sudden concern for our affordability will just fade away, and the trap will close on Change and Truth.
Venus is beautiful. Will our Democratic party continue to be the willing and unwitting agent for the lovely words of the Garden of Trumpisum caretakers, or will the Democratic Party "grow some Cojones" and kill the flytrap. Words by Madeleine Albright.
