Women
and Words
The Percentage of the United States population for women is 50.5. We are now stricken from “being”in any written form in America's Governmental Agencies. Somehow we are gone from being a wife, mother, teacher, doctor, business leader, congress member, astronaut, scientist, artist, musician, author, service positions, and organizer. This is not a complete list of what women do in our lives as Americans, but you get the idea. Well,....just what does Trump and his minions think will happen if we all just quit our roles in our democratic society? We could just go on strike for a week and our world as we know it would be in chaos.
The Handmaidens Tale, by Margret Atwood written in 1985, The Disappearance by Philip Wylie written 1951 gives us projections of a world which seems now be a possibility. Trumps consistent statements and actions of how he treats women have now become reality in the disappearance of Words from government agencies.
I have often wondered what we would be in our intellectual presence, what the word to define ourselves would be, if we were not connected to the word man or men. What if we were Wons... What would we have as an image of not being Adams rib? What would it be like if we were the ones who gave birth to Man in our collective religious stories and not the other way around ? Actually, it is us, the female who gives birth, life to the other sex. It is us who creates the warm, the caring, the nourishing, the environment of learning in the early years, the building of the structure of the hearth, and the giving wonder of love. We inculcate the concepts of goodness into the male child making him aware of reason, respectfulness, truthfulness, empathy, and the ability to love others.
Our religious heritage of Michelangelo's god giving life to Adam reinforces the idea of man being God, and a Man God creating man. The President, unfortunately thinks that this concept makes him above all else in our world of the now. “I run the country and the World” ...his words.
